@Kabron The benefit is that it can be used as an offline programmer. Love this idea in that I don't need to use a computer to program a few various HEX/BIN files to several different chips.

Once the partition.cvs table is converted for Arduino IDE, it made it simple to change the fat image for updates.

The project is set to be compiled with Expressif-IDF/IDE.
Modify the html / display code prior to fit your needs (Like updating to English to avoid confusion if you're trying to use the in program ability to upload files).

ENGLISH INSTRUCTIONS

If M5Burner doesn't work on your new Mac (especially with macOS 15.x or Apple Silicon M4/M3), and it crashes on startup or doesn't load any firmware, here's how to fix it manually.

🔄 Symptom

M5Burner launches but shows errors like invalid signature: 0x54454d3c

Missing folders like firmware/ or dat/ inside the app

JavaScript or unzipper errors in Terminal

🔧 Manual Fix Steps

Download M5Burner (latest version)From the official site:https://m5stack.com/pages/download

Fix permissions (required for macOS Gatekeeper)

xattr -c /Applications/M5Burner.app

Download the manual patch (missing folders)GitHub repo:https://github.com/neusmstack/M5Burner_patch

Or direct download of the ZIP file:https://github.com/neusmstack/M5Burner_patch/raw/main/M5Burner_patch_files.zip

Unzip the file and copy the firmware/ and dat/ folders into this path:

/Applications/M5Burner.app/Contents/Resources/packages/

Launch M5Burner again and everything should work fine:

Firmware list will appear

You can burn and configure devices

hmm, running UIFlow2 on my M5CoreS3 and measuring current on USB-C I get about 140 mA / 5 V.

Is your M5CoreS3 maybe charging the battery?

Hello,

thank you for your reply. I'v tried to only use the CS pin and it works, but... yes, there is always a but :-) the results are not very accurate. From the moment a set a brightness in the screen, the values of the temperatures grows.

I try to read the temp in a separate task, but it didn't change anything.

Why can see that between the line LCD start and the LCD shutdown, the temperature grows and that why the brightness of the screen is increasing. After the line "LCD Shutdown" the brightness is set to 20 and the value are higher that the values at the beginning but they don't moved.

Hi, I had the same problem as you, my M5stack did not connect or crash if you did it by force, for cons I solved my problem by installing a new firmware and changing USB port, I was on a HUB and now I'm using a USB port on my PC

CP2014 controls the USB to serial connection....

COM port connection problems can result from other things: using the old driver (Windows), faulty USB cable, etc.

However the CP2014 should NOT be so hot that you can't touch it and leave your finger there.

Q - Is it that hot ?

If it is, then yes perhaps don't use the battery with this unit.

If the chip is super hot (and your COM port is working for other devices) you could also look to contact your supplier.

I've tested lots of M5 units and use 4 regularly and have not had this problem. I also haven't heard of anyone else having this problem.

If you get another M5 I would not at all expect this to happen again.

I am charging it with the ipad 1 charger. I have a meter and the wall wart is normally 5v, but the output amps is .3A and on the faces that i have it is .17A. It charges my other things just fine. I don't know why the amp draw is so low.

@m5stack No, not at all! It was just sitting on my desk and over the course of two days a crack appeared and gradually grew over the whole width. The other three edges show no problem. This is why I suspect a problem with the extrusion mould.
