Extra juicy and question about USB type C charging.

  • Hi all,

I have been working with M5Stack since 2020, it really checking all the boxes of what I wanted for a micro controller. I am currently working with M5Stack Fire, and the battery base comes with a 500 mAh battery. However, I need more juicy to keep it running longer wirelessly. I am powering a set up of a Neoplixel ring, a RFID 2 unit, a limit Switch unity, and potentially a vibrator unit.

Due to size of the housing, I decided to create a Type C power cable with following parts to keep it low profile:

I soldered the red wire to the V+ and black wire to the G. However, this DIY power cable only works when plug in with a Type C to Type A cables (power source) and not Type C to Type C (power source) cables.

Anyone know why this is happening? Is Type C to Type A wired differently? or is it because the 5.1K resistor?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello @ghettokon

maybe related to the note at the bottom here?

Note: 2018.2A PCB version of the device does not support C2C (TypeC to TypeC) connection and PD power supply.

    Thanks
