I ordered the M5Stack C and also the HAT MLX 90640. Then I installed Arduino 1.8.9. And downloaded the example M5Stack C / Hat / MLX 90640. But the only thing I get displayed is this picture.
In the serial monitor I get the following text : " No ack read" in between then "Get Frame error: -8 /24.000000, 35.000000 " and then again the first text.
Is the module possibly defective or what am I doing wrong?
      Greetings Reiner

I am involved in everything that has to do with automation, including the M5Stack's, a few 3D printers, a CNC mill and a lot of other things. The M5Stack's are all really great, I can't imagine a better prototyping.

Do you get the same result when using the precompiled firmware from this page?
