I wanted to check world headlines without picking up my phone — because the phone always pulls you somewhere else.
So I built a small dedicated object: it sits on the desk as a clock, and when you want the news, one button press gives you live headlines from BBC, The Guardian, NPR and Sky News. That's it.
No notifications, no scrolling, no app. You read and put it down.
Features:
- 4 international feeds (BBC, Guardian, NPR, Sky News)
- NTP clock as home screen with pixel-art boot screen
- Auto-geolocation + persistent timezone storage
- WiFiManager — no hardcoded WiFi credentials
- Battery saver, startup/shutdown jingles
- Single .ino file, MIT license
