sr22 insurance
Okay, quick rundown — I had to get SR22 insurance this year, and the sticker shock was real. I went looking for a site that had price info for all 50 states and came up empty, so I ended up building my own rough list. Took a while, but at least now I’ve got a decent idea of what people are actually paying, and maybe this saves someone else the same hassle.
For the record, the SR22 itself isn’t the expensive part. It’s basically a form your insurance company files for about twenty bucks. What really hurts is why you need it — DUI, missed payments, too many tickets, whatever. That’s what drives your rates through the roof. Some insurers act like you’re a lawsuit waiting to happen.
From what I could piece together, the national “average” seems to hover somewhere near $230 a month, but it’s all over the place. Michigan’s ridiculous, Maine’s weirdly affordable,
